Scituate has three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. The elementary schools, Clayville, Hope and North Scituate, educate students from kindergarten through grade 5. In addition, there is a pre-school program for special needs youngsters at the Clayville Elementary school.

In the spring of 1997 educators, parents and business people from the town got together to develop a strategic plan which would establish the future direction for the school system. Through this planning process the following mission statement, goals and vision statement were developed.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Scituate School
system is to provide all students
with the knowledge and skills
necessary to become responsible,
contributing citizens in an
ever-changing world.

Goals

We will:

  • increase proficiency in the RI Common Core of Learning.
  • effectively expand and allocate resources to meet present and future needs.
  • provide opportunities for collaboration among home, school, and community.
  • make technology equally accessible in all schools to support teaching and
     learning.
  • encourage on-going staff development.

Vision Statement

The Scituate School System provides a safe, secure environment where
the importance of teaching and learning is held in high regard.
Our schools reflect the best educational research and practice
ensuring that all students have the opportunity to become
creative thinkers, problem solvers, and effective communicators.
Our students are provided a strong foundation in the
RI Common Core of Learning enabling them to perform
at the highest standards. We are a community of life-long learners
where school, home, and the community come together to accomplish
our mission.
